Some of John's bucks
John has been bowhunting for over 40 years and is self taught. He was shooting nice bucks with a bow long before it was a common occurance. The following images are from the late 70's / early 80's. He started bowhunting in the mid sixties and it took him a decade of trial and error and very hard work before he began to arrow good bucks.
John arrowed this ten point in 1976. He made, considering the available archery equipment of the time, an amazing 25 yard double lung shot with his Bear Polar II.
John shot this 18 inch wide eight point in 1978 with his Bear Polar II. He made a 15 yard shot.
John is pictured here with his two, now grown, sons. This eight point buck was shot in 1979 at a distance of ten yards with PSE bow.
John's 1980 buck was this thick bodied eight point. He was then using a PSE Laser bow and the shot was 12 yards.
In 1982 John took this eight point with a perfect 15 yard shot from his PSE Laser bow. Notice his home made camouflage suit.
John shot this very heavy antlered buck in 1983 with a muzzleloader on state land. It gross scores in the 150's, has circumferences of up to 9 inches, and was estimated to be eight years old when shot.
